Strong growth in the number of Central Europe (Central Asia) trains on the Yangtze River Delta Railway in the first two months of 2026
China News Service, Nanjing, March 5 (Hu Xiaowei, Zhu Xiaoying) China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. announced on the 5th that in the first two months of this year, the number of China-Europe (Central Asia) trains in the Yangtze River Delta railway saw strong growth, with a total of 525 trains dispatched and 55,000 containers shipped, both increasing by more than 20% year-on-year.
According to statistics, from 2013 to the end of 2025, the Yangtze River Delta railway has operated over 32,000 China-Europe (Central Asia) trains, including nearly 16,000 trains towards Europe and over 16,000 towards Asia. Since the first China-Europe (Central Asia) train (Suzhou-Warsaw) was launched on September 29, 2013, the Yangtze River Delta China-Europe (Central Asia) train routes have increased from 1 to 15, reaching a total of 36 countries in Europe and Asia.
By the end of 2025, the fastest Yangtze River Delta China-Europe (Central Asia) train can reach Astana, Kazakhstan in 9 days and Hamburg, Germany in 15 days, with transportation time being about 1/3 of sea transport and transportation cost about 1/5 of air transport. In addition to previous small commodities and electronic products, the proportion of textiles, automobiles and parts, machinery equipment, furniture, and other goods is increasing. Regarding return trains, high-quality goods such as food, clothing, cosmetics, timber, mineral products from Eurasian countries, as well as more and more high-value items like auto parts and machinery equipment, are entering China's borders.
Looking at the categories of outbound goods from the Yangtze River Delta, a pattern has formed where small commodities are the main source from Yiwu, Zhejiang to relevant European countries, electronic products and appliances are the main source from Suzhou to Hamburg, Germany and Warsaw, Poland, and white goods and machinery products are the main source from Hefei to Hamburg, Germany. The return China-Europe (Central Asia) trains are also reshaping the import raw material transportation pattern in the Yangtze River Delta.
Relevant personnel from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. believe that the Yangtze River Delta China-Europe (Central Asia) train "steel camel team" not only helps "Made in China" go abroad but also promotes the industrial development of countries jointly building the "Belt and Road". (End)
