Data released by the General Administration of Customs on the 25th shows that in 2025, the import and export of goods trade between China and Germany reached 1.51 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.2% compared to 2024, which is 1.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade in 2025. Among them, exports to Germany were 846.3 billion yuan, and imports from Germany were 664.3 billion yuan. Germany continues to be China's largest trading partner in Europe, and China has returned to being Germany's largest trading partner after a year.
In terms of specific products, electromechanical products have become the main force driving stable growth in bilateral imports and exports. In 2025, the import and export of electromechanical products between China and Germany reached 1.07 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, accounting for more than 70% of the China-Germany trade scale. Among them, the import and export of automobiles and their parts reached 131.5 billion yuan, accounting for 12.3% of the China-Germany electromechanical product trade scale. During the same period, the import and export of pharmaceutical materials and medicines, basic organic chemicals, and emerging field products such as 3D printers and industrial robots were 65.7 billion yuan, 18.4 billion yuan, 2.6 billion yuan, and 1 billion yuan respectively.
As the world's second and third largest economies, China and Germany are comprehensive strategic partners for cooperation and mutual benefit, with close high-level exchanges between the two countries. On the morning of the 25th, German Chancellor Merz arrived in Beijing to begin a two-day official visit to China.
