In 2025, Sino-German economic and trade cooperation achieved remarkable results. The import and export volume of bilateral trade in goods was 1.51 trillion billion yuan, an increase of 5.2 percent over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 1.4 percentage points higher than the overall level of China's foreign trade. Among them, China exported 846.3 billion yuan to Germany and imported 664.3 billion yuan from Germany. Germany continues to maintain China's status as the largest trading partner in Europe, while China has become Germany's largest trading partner again after a year. From the perspective of trade structure, mechanical and electrical products are the core of bilateral trade, with import and export volume reaching 1.07 trillion billion yuan, accounting for more than 70% of the trade scale between China and Germany, of which the trade volume of automobiles and spare parts is 131.5 billion billion yuan. In addition, trade in traditional fields such as medicine and pharmaceuticals, basic organic chemicals, and emerging fields such as 3D printers and industrial robots also maintained growth. As the world's second and third largest economies, China and Germany have close high-level exchanges. On February 25, 2025, German Chancellor Mertz led an economic and trade delegation of about 30 leading corporate executives in advantageous fields such as automobiles, chemicals, and biopharmaceuticals. The delegation's visit to China fully reflects the importance and expectation of Germany to deepen bilateral all-round strategic partnership and economic and trade cooperation.
