Shanghai Yangshan Port sets a new record for the largest filling of a single ship of green methanol in China.

　　On March 5th, under the remote monitoring and on-site support of the Shanghai Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau, the methanol refueling ship "Haigang Zhiyuan" safely docked with the CMA CGM Group's "CMA CGM OSMIUM" ship, successfully carrying out green methanol refueling operations. The refueling amount reached over 3640 tons, setting a new record for the largest single-ship green methanol refueling amount in the country.

　　This is the first methanol fuel refueling for the CMA CGM Group's newly delivered 13,000 TEU (standard container) methanol dual-fuel container ship at Shanghai Port, further enhancing the comprehensive service level of Shanghai International Shipping Green Fuel Refueling Center for international liners, highlighting Shanghai Port's leading position in the global green shipping service network.

　　Currently, the pace of green and low-carbon transformation in the global shipping industry is accelerating, and green marine fuel is becoming the core direction for promoting the industry's green transformation. Recently, the Ministry of Transport of China and ten other departments jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for Supporting the Construction of Shanghai International Shipping Green Fuel Refueling Center and Trading Center," which clarifies a series of support measures from dimensions such as capacity assurance, refueling services, and safety supervision, injecting strong policy momentum for Shanghai to build a globally leading international shipping center and promote low-carbon transformation in the shipping field.

　　"This refueling amount is large, with extremely high safety requirements," a staff member from the Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau told reporters. To ensure operational safety, the Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau focuses on risk prevention and control, building a comprehensive supervision and service guarantee system. They proactively guide refueling operation units to carry out safety risk identification, operation plan research, and emergency plan preparation for green methanol fuel refueling operations, laying a solid scientific foundation and safety guarantee for orderly refueling operations; relying on the "VTS Genie" artificial intelligence system and CCTV video monitoring, they implement full dynamic tracking and intelligent risk prediction for operational vessels; dispatching patrol boats for on-site alert, simultaneously deploying law enforcement forces to strengthen on-site supervision, urging ship parties to enhance self-inspection of key points such as mooring and pipeline connections, forming a three-dimensional supervision network of "remote monitoring + water area patrol + on-site inspection," fully ensuring the smooth progress of operations.

　　Reporters learned from the Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau that since Shanghai Port completed the country's first green methanol refueling on April 10, 2024, Shanghai Port has ensured methanol ship refueling 27 times, with a refueling amount of 90,300 tons, including green methanol refueling 7 times, with a refueling amount of 17,200 tons, ranking first among major global ports in terms of ship green methanol refueling amount.
