Qinzhou Inland Port Master Plan Approved A Solid Step in the Construction of River-Sea Combined Transport System of Pinglu Canal
Recently, the "Overall Plan for Qinzhou Inland Port (2035)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") was approved by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, marking that the Qinzhou Inland Port, born from the Pinglu Canal and thriving due to it, now has a plan to guide and support its construction. This provides strong momentum for creating a river-sea intermodal transport system for the Pinglu Canal, building a high-quality Pinglu Canal economic belt, and jointly constructing a new western land-sea corridor at a high level.
Qinzhou Inland Port is an important regional port in Guangxi, serving as a crucial carrier for creating the Pinglu Canal economic belt and unleashing the potential of river-sea interaction. In the future, this port will accommodate the freight demands of canal-side industrial parks and even the hinterland industries of the southwest region, assisting Guangxi in implementing services for the new era, promoting the development of the west, supporting the construction of the western land-sea new corridor, enhancing logistics quality and reducing costs in the southwest region, and strengthening open cooperation with ASEAN, among other major national strategies. The "Plan" fully supports and guarantees the shipping of representative ship types designed for the Pinglu Canal, holding significant pioneering and exemplary significance for Guangxi in accelerating the construction of a river-sea intermodal transport system for the Pinglu Canal and creating a modern inland water transport system.
According to the "Plan," Qinzhou Inland Port will establish an overall spatial pattern of "two port areas, five operation areas, and multiple port points." The Lingshan Port Area includes the Shaping Operation Area, Luwo Operation Area, and tourism port points at Jiuzhou and Luwo Town, primarily serving the dry bulk cargo, general cargo, and container transportation needs of Lingshan County and surrounding areas, with additional tourism passenger transport functions. The North-South Port Area covers the Pingji Operation Area, Longwan Operation Area, Jiulong Operation Area, and eight tourism port points including Pingji Jiubaidong and Qinjiang Ancient City, mainly focusing on dry bulk cargo, general cargo, and container transportation, with additional tourism passenger transport functions, actively expanding water-rail intermodal transport and other functions.
Next, Qinzhou Inland Port will focus on advancing port infrastructure construction, strengthening the supporting port collection and distribution system, promoting the integration of port, industry, and city development, and transforming it into a modern comprehensive port with advanced facilities, complete functions, efficient operation, safety resilience, and green intelligence. This will provide solid support for the high-quality development of water transport in Guangxi and the construction of the western land-sea new corridor. (Li Tan, Tan Xuefei)
