The first LNG carrier of the Year of the Horse, the vessel “Orchid,” has successfully berthed at Zhangzhou Port.
China News Service, Zhangzhou, March 1 (Zheng Liming) On March 1, under the escort of the Zhangzhou Maritime Bureau and Xiamen Navigation Mark Office, the first LNG ship of the Year of the Horse, "DIAMOND GAS ORCHID" (Orchid), successfully docked at the Zhangzhou LNG receiving station terminal. The ship entered the country to unload 68,728.44 tons of natural gas, injecting ample clean energy "confidence" for the guarantee of civilian gas use and stable industrial production.
To ensure safe and efficient operations, maritime and navigation protection departments have established a full-chain guarantee mechanism of "pre-control—full escort—closed-loop supervision—quality service," comprehensively strengthening the safety defense line. During the work, both parties proactively connected with ship agents, terminals, pilots, and other relevant units to accurately grasp ship dynamics, cargo information, and navigation plans, opening a "green channel" for energy supply guarantee. The Zhangzhou Maritime Bureau strictly checks the ship's PSC inspection records, verifying safety management, equipment status, and crew qualifications item by item, eliminating safety risk hazards from the source.
In response to the special attributes of this new generation ship type, hybrid propulsion, and large-capacity liquid cargo, Zhangzhou Maritime has strengthened special risk assessments, employing a dual-track mode of "electronic patrol + intelligent supervision," and real-time pushing key information such as navigation environment, fishing operation areas, and hydrometeorology to the ship; issuing the "Recommendations for Strengthening the Prevention of Commercial and Fishing Vessel Collisions along the Chinese Coast" in advance, clarifying speed limits, avoidance, and lookout requirements in key waters, strictly preventing the risk of commercial and fishing vessel collisions.
The head of the Zhangzhou Longhai Maritime Office stated that the next step will be to continuously optimize the full-process guarantee mechanism for large LNG ships, focusing on upgrading the quality of technical and high-end ship supervision services, with stricter standards, more practical measures, and higher efficiency, escorting the safe and smooth waterway transportation of key energy materials, providing solid maritime support for Zhangzhou's high-quality development and economic and social stability.
It is reported that the "Orchid" ship that docked this time is the world's first Sayaringo STaGE type LNG ship, with a length of 293.5 meters, a width of 48.94 meters, a total tonnage of 144,828 tons, and a current draft depth of 11.15 meters. The ship is equipped with an efficient hull structure and an innovative hybrid fuel propulsion system, achieving breakthroughs in hull weight, wind resistance optimization, and LNG carrying capacity, representing the top technical level of global clean energy transport vessels.
