"Weifang-Cambodia" grocery route officially opened
On February 27, 75 engineering vehicles and various equipment arrived at the Bohai Bay Port Weifang Port Area in Shandong. These goods will be shipped to Cambodia's Sihanoukville Port via the Southeast Asia general cargo route from Weifang Port Area, marking the official opening of the "Weifang-Cambodia" general cargo route. This is currently the only Cambodian general cargo route in northern China and the first time Bohai Bay Port has achieved a large-scale export of engineering vehicles.
As a new practice carrier of Bohai Bay Port's "Going South" supply chain brand in the new era, the new route leverages Sihanoukville Port's advantage as Cambodia's only large deep-water port. It connects Phnom Penh through rail and road transport, radiates throughout ASEAN, and links with China-Japan-Korea routes, establishing a new logistics channel connecting Shandong with the Southeast Asian market.
"The 75 engineering vehicles transported this time were assembled and shipped from Changchun and Qingdao, setting a new record for Bohai Bay Port's single vessel bulk vehicle transportation, showcasing the cross-regional resource integration capability of the 'Going South' brand. Additionally, we have loaded complete sets of production equipment such as vulcanizing machines and boilers, and will subsequently introduce raw materials like tire carbon black, creating a diverse general cargo transportation system of 'project equipment + engineering vehicles + industrial raw materials,'" said Zhang Qionglei, Business Manager of Bohai Bay Port Marketing Center.
During operations, Weifang Port Area innovatively adopted a vehicle stacking plan, achieving three-dimensional parking of engineering vehicles within limited cabin space, and integrated loading of engineering vehicles with large equipment, steel pipes, and other materials, significantly improving cabin utilization rate, ensuring "large items stable, small items secure, space full."
To ensure the stability of the new route and the safe and efficient bulk shipment of engineering vehicles, Bohai Bay Port collaborated with various port departments to create a convenient and efficient business environment for customers. Weifang Customs opened a green channel for inspections and implemented preferential measures such as "direct loading for export"; Weifang Border Inspection expedited boarding documents for special operations personnel through "mobile processing," achieving "zero waiting" operations and "zero delay" clearance for ships; Weifang Maritime promoted "four priority" services and "one-stop" processing at ports, optimizing and enhancing the efficiency of ship entry and exit.
In recent years, Bohai Bay Port has focused on building the "Going South" supply chain service system in the new era, continuously optimizing route networks, upgrading operational processes, and enhancing service capabilities, expanding diversified cargo export channels. It has successively opened premium routes to Vietnam, Indonesia, and other destinations, becoming an important maritime hub connecting the ASEAN market for the central and western Shandong regions. Bohai Bay Port will take the opening of the Cambodia route as an opportunity to continuously deepen process innovation and service upgrades, fully enhance the "automobile export" full-chain service capability, and contribute to promoting high-quality regional foreign trade development with smoother logistics channels and superior port supply chain services.
