Jiangnan Shipyard has delivered its fifth large LNG carrier.
On March 23, Jiangnan Shipbuilding delivered the fifth large Mark III Flex membrane LNG ship "ARADA" (H2704) built for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) four months ahead of schedule.
Thomas Backmann, Vice President of Investor Relations at ADNOC L&S, Maritime Project Manager Keith Mander, General Manager of the Ship and Marine Business Division of China Shipbuilding Trading Glory, Assistant General Manager of Jiangnan Shipbuilding Liang Xiaojun, along with representatives from DNV, GTT, the shipowner's supervision team, and crew members of "ARADA" attended the delivery celebration.
The delivery of this ship marks another fruitful achievement for Jiangnan Shipbuilding in the ADNOC series ship project and adds a significant contribution to China's high-end clean energy equipment going global.
The construction process of this ship embodies Jiangnan Shipbuilding's continuous technological innovation and lean management wisdom. The ship completed a "three-in-one" sea trial at the beginning of 2026 (simultaneously completing conventional sea trials, gas trials, and gas tests) with a total of 187 test items, shortening the average level of the series ships by 3 days, setting the shortest sea trial record for the series ships so far. The realization of this efficient model benefits from a series of breakthrough optimizations in the gas test phase:
Through refined loading and test sequence adjustments, the test time was reduced by 4 hours, the berth time at the shore station was reduced by 1 day, accumulating experience for further shortening the shore station cycle, and the LNG gas consumption at the shore station was reduced by about 20% compared to previous ships;
Innovatively adopting the tandem cold pipe process, compressing the test cycle by 6 hours;
During the gas test, flexibly adjusting the cold chamber plan to accommodate peak gas usage, saving approximately 10% more LNG.
The team, through efficient collaboration, process optimization, continuous process improvement, and the intelligent construction model of "human-machine integration," fully demonstrated Jiangnan Shipbuilding's continuously improving "Jiangnan speed" and "Jiangnan quality" in the field of large LNG ship construction, not only earning high recognition from ADNOC but also enhancing China's reputation in the global LNG ship construction market.
