On March 23, 2025, the fifth large Mark III Flex membrane liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier "ARADA" built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation, for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) of the United Arab Emirates, was officially delivered, four months ahead of schedule. The delivery of the ship is another important milestone for the ADNOC series of ships, which has strongly promoted China's high-end clean energy equipment to the world. During the construction process, Jiangnan Shipbuilding demonstrated excellent technical and management capabilities: the ship completed the "three-in-one" trial of conventional, gas and gas tests at one time in early 2026, with a total of 187 tests, which took 3 days shorter than the average of the series of ships, setting a record for the shortest trial of the series. This achievement benefited from a number of process optimizations, including adjusting the test sequence to save 4 hours of test time and 1 day shore station berthing time, innovating the use of series cold pipe process compression cycle of 6 hours, and flexibly adjusting the cold tank plan to match the peak gas consumption. These measures have reduced the LNG gas consumption of the shore station by about 20% compared with the previous ship, and saved about 10% of LNG during the gas test. Through efficient collaboration, process optimization and intelligent construction mode, Jiangnan Shipbuilding not only improves the "Jiangnan speed" and "Jiangnan quality", which has been highly praised by ADNOC, but also further demonstrates the brand competitiveness of "Made in China" in the global LNG ship construction market.
