On November 17, Gustavo Menéndez, Mayor of Merlo City and Secretary of International Relations of Argentina’s Justicialist Party, led a delegation to Fengtai District, Beijing. They toured IBI—a digital supply chain and cross-border e-commerce leader—and held in-depth talks with Deputy District Chief Lin Yanhong. Discussions centered on economic cooperation, industrial alignment (especially agri-processing, logistics, and digital transformation), and friendship city development. Both sides identified strong synergies: Merlo’s agricultural and manufacturing strengths complement Fengtai’s innovation ecosystem and IBI’s global trade platforms. Concrete proposals emerged—including Argentine soybean/beef exports to China, Chinese fertilizer/pesticide imports, overseas warehouse construction, and joint industrial parks for digital logistics and fertilizer production. The visit established a government-enterprise communication mechanism, advancing China-Argentina local cooperation and enriching their comprehensive strategic partnership.
