Cotton linters
Short fibers still remain on the cottonseed (wool seeds) after ginning. Use a lint peeling machine to peel off these short fibers, which is called cotton linters. Cotton linters consist of three parts; one part comes from the longer fibers of the "hair"; one part comes from the fibers of the wool seeds that are rolled off by the gin; and the other part is a layer of short and dense fibers that naturally grow and develop on the epidermis of cottonseed. This is the main component of cotton linters.
